Finding What Motivates You

Motivation – some days you feel it, other days you can’t get your hands on a meagre corner of it. You stare at the computer willing yourself to get something done and instead you find yourself just going through the motions. You are uninspired and have no idea how to make yourself feel otherwise. Finding what inspires and motivates you is paramount for achieving your work, personal and fitness goals.

Here are our top motivation tips to get the job done with a sense of passion and excitement.

Create small realistic goals

Having long-term and bigger picture goals and dreams are important but it is essential to break down those goals into bite-sized, consumable goals.
This way it is easy to see the progress you are making in your work and you will feel a sense of accomplishment when completing these goals.
Feeling the combination of progress and achievement is a perfect way to inspire and motivate yourself daily.

Don’t think about it as hard/difficult work

Think about your hard work or project as a piece of the puzzle making your life into what you want it to be. Once you have made the choice to do something or received a certain project from your boss don’t think about how hard or frustrating it is going to be but focus on how proud you will be of yourself once you have gotten the job done.

Stop stressing over the things that don’t matter

Doing things that don’t mean anything (like spending half the day scrolling aimlessly on Facebook) costs us a lot of mental energy.
Look at your to-do list and how you spend your day and cross off anything that’s both unnecessary and demotivating. You will stay more inherently motivated if you’re spending your day on activities that are part of your larger mission!

Celebrate wins

Acknowledging all the good you are doing is crucial. If you are constantly focusing on the long-term payout, you will miss out on all the little wins and it is impossible to stay motivated if there is no reward in sight. We all need more wins in life!

Set a quit time

Recognize when enough is enough. Nobody is motivated 24/7 because it is impossible to feel energized all the time. You need to give yourself rest and set a specific time to unplug or turn away from the demands of your job. This enables you to work harder and smarter in the hours that you do dedicate to work.

Read and exercise daily

Once you have integrated the belief that your success depends on a healthy mind and body into your life you will quickly see the rewards for dedicating time daily to nurturing your mind and body. Set aside an hour for exercising and at least 20 minutes for reading and quickly see how fast your life will change for the better.

Just do it

The most effective motivation trick is to just do it. The longer you procrastinate and put it off the harder the task will be. Dive into the project and trust that the motivation will come once you have started.
